About the Game
Dark Light is a post-apocalyptic cyberpunk souls-like action platformer. Humanity has fallen, dark energy has consumed the world, and only a lone hunter stands against an army of monsters and corrupted creatures. Players navigate challenging environments, uncover dark secrets, and fight relentless bosses in a world inspired by the atmosphere of classic action platformers.
The game was released on Steam in 2022 and has since launched on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
My Role
- Solely responsible for all game programming — from core systems to gameplay mechanics.
- Designed and built a custom gear system that drops items with randomized stats and procedurally generated names, inspired by systems like Diablo's loot engine.
- Created enemy data editor tools so designers could configure enemy parameters (health, damage, drops, drop chances) directly in the Unity Editor without touching code.
- Designed and implemented several boss fights, including their behavioral patterns, attack phases, and difficulty tuning.
- Built and maintained the full combat system, player movement, and platforming mechanics.
- Implemented save/load, player progression, and inventory systems.
- Ported and optimized the game for each target platform — PC, Mac, PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One & Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch — ensuring stable performance and platform-specific compliance on all releases.
